Mike Dorn is a current resident of Portland, OR who relocated from Silicon Valley, CA more than 20 years ago. He spent his career in the high tech industry where his creativity was not fully utilized. Mike has been interested in photography since high school, but did not start further developing his hobby until 2010 when he was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Since his diagnosis, photography has provided him an opportunity to view the world through a different lens. Besides providing a good excuse to get outdoors and enjoy nature, photography has enabled Mike to create and inspire others to pursue their passions. Ultimately, Mike hopes to leave a lasting legacy through his photographs so that his work is remembered and appreciated for decades to come.
ABOUT THE PHOTOS
You'll notice that Mike likes two extremes---a lot of color or none at all (meaning monochrome), so the photos tend to be more saturated than most or monochromatic. Hopefully, they aren't too distracting or unnatural looking... You've heard the expression: "a picture just doesn't do it justice", well... Mike uses vivid colors and/or high contrast to bring back a little justice.
I hope you enjoy the world through his lens.
